The home of cricket in Worcestershire.
The Worcestershire County Cricket Club was first established in 1865 thus making it over 160 years old. From fairly humble beginnings on land that was originally three sheep fields, the Club rose through the ranks until it was scheduled as a ‘List A’ team. Likewise, the grounds are one of only eighteen ‘first-class’ county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. In 2003 the Club was listed as a Twenty20 team.
The Worcestershire County Cricket Club ground has the capacity for 4,900 spectators. There is seating around at least 70% of the pitch as well as several superb spectator stands including the Graeme Hicks Pavilion, The Ladies Pavilion and the new multimillion pound complex known as The View’. The grounds also feature The Severn Sports Bar – named after the nearby river, The Diglis Bar and The Kiosk. The venue is popular with cricket enthusiasts and has a substantial calendar of events.
The ground are kept in an immaculate condition and the view from the Ladies Pavilion of Worcester Cathedral and Glovers Needle is exceptional. The venue also hosts weddings, parties and corporate events that can be arranged through New Road Events.
