Newcomers ‘Dogs Allowed’ are a small fish doing doggy paddle in a big pond but founder, Nick Fisher, believes he’s started a movement that the whole nation can get behind.
In a nation of dog lovers, Worcestershire is widely recognised as ahead of the pack, with dogs of all shapes of sizes – from Chihuahuas all the way up to Great Danes – regular sights on the footpaths and pavements of this beautiful county.
But as time goes on, more and more venues are opening their doors and welcoming our four-legged companions inside; a trend that Bromsgrove resident and passionate dog owner, Nick Fisher, is fully behind.
Nick recently launched the ‘Dogs Allowed Card’ movement to help his fellow dog owners to find the very best dog friendly venues across Worcestershire and beyond, and to be rewarded for bringing their dog with them.
We met with Nick and his giant Goldendoodle, Max, at one of his favourite dog friendly venues in Bromsgrove, Bayleys, where conversation quickly turned to the idea behind the Dogs Allowed Card:
“I was sick of spending night after night eating at home because we didn’t know which venues were dog friendly, and I know from chatting with other dog owners that I’m not the only one.
I want to change the culture from ‘dog friendly’ being almost a slur, to being a badge of honour that coffee shops, restaurants, pubs and everything in between wear with pride. That’s how the idea was born.
There are so many fantastic dog friendly venues in Worcestershire that people don’t even know exist. We want to leverage our marketing expertise to champion these places and make more dog owners aware of how wonderful they are.”
